Marie-Laure, event decorator, reveals how Maison Ditaba decorated an adult birthday party, from choosing the theme to the creative process.

Hello, I hope you're all well. I (Marie-Laure, Maison Ditaba event and interior decorator) am back to tell you how Maison Ditaba made an event decoration - a birthday 🎂. The task was to decorate a grown man's birthday. A simple, affordable and inexpensive decoration. It has to be said that it was more the wife of the man at the party that Maison Ditaba really helped with this birthday project! And yet, her basic job is not to be an event and interior decorator... The Disanka formula, available here, was chosen to decorate this space for an adult's birthday party. It's suitable for all your events: weddings, birthdays, baby- showers, christenings, bar mitzvahs, etc. As a reminder, Maison Ditaba is a family business made up of event and interior decorators: myself Marie-Laure and my sister-in-law Adèle.

1. Event decorator: choosing a birthday them
When I was asked, in my capacity as interior and event decorator, to decorate the birthday venue, I was sent photos of the place where the event was to take place. The team and I decided to work around the theme of Ancient Greece for this birthday decoration. Why did we do this? Because the space as a whole, with its two columns, was reminiscent of Greek architecture. So we played around with three colours for the theme:
White, which is predominant with the drapes, tablecloths and crockery.
Green, with the greenery - handmade flower bouquets, green wall, placemats and napkin ribbons. Given the time of year, we didn't want the decor to be too flowery. It was an anniversary, not a wedding. So we wanted to make a difference with the decoration. A simple, affordable birthday decoration.
Gold with the chairs and certain accessories (gold table runners, vases, artificial LED candles).

2. Event decorator: the birthday creative process
Our creative process, as event and interior designers for this birthday decoration, was divided into several stages:
We created a moodboard. We looked for inspiration and trends related to the theme.
We then looked for all the birthday accessories we were going to need in the shops.
As event and interior decorators, we really found what we were looking for, although you always have to leave something to the imagination.
Once all the elements for the birthday decoration had been put together, we made two types of bouquet. These were created entirely by hand by my sister-in-law Adèle, who is also Maison Ditaba's event and interior decorator. So we stuck to a lot of greenery and a lot of unusual flowers. In particular, a variety of pampas that isn't very well known.
3. Event decorator: the challenge
As event and interior designers, we were faced with a number of challenges when it came to decorating this birthday party. First of all, it's very important to leave room for the imagination, because you can't always find exactly what you want. But you can always find alternatives.
That's what's interesting? Finding items that we hadn't necessarily thought of and realising that they add a really special touch to the decor we had in mind. So, we prepare everything, we put everything on a board, we think about it... But there's always a little something unexpected that comes along and creates a surprise both for the customers and for us.
4. Event decorator: the Ditaba touch
At Maison Ditaba, as event and interior designers, we like to offer that little bit extra. So, for this anniversary project, we offered some gifts and goodies to the guests - dual-purpose home fragrances:
they can be used in a burner
they can be used in a burner, or with the sticks provided, to spread a pleasant scent around the home.
The magnificent bouquets, with their mix of greenery and pampas, were also given to the female guests.
