3 tips for decorating a space without going overboard

Marie-Laure gives 3 tips on how to decorate a space without going overboard.

"Decorating without going overboard means adding just the right amount without overdoing it."

The interior design sector is booming in France. Since the arrival of French decorating shows on the small screen, we've all seen a big boom. There's what you might call ‘an interest in decorating’. And I think that's great! Decorate a space.

I scour the internet, decorating Instagram accounts and Pinterest and it's a delight for my inspiration.

In fact, have you ever visited Maison Ditaba's Pinterest account?

But I was thinking about one thing: sometimes you see a lot, you get overwhelmed and you don't know what combinations to make. It's hard to make coherent choices. We might tend to want everything, because we like so many things.

But be careful, my friends: you don't want to fall into the trap of overloading the house. Here are 3 tips to help you avoid this.

1. Decorating a space: avoid overcrowded space

Decorate, yes, but don't go overboard!

Decorating without going overboard means providing just the right amount of decoration without overdoing it. Decoration must be present, yes it must. You need to decorate and accessorise to achieve the atmosphere or style you want. But be careful not to overdo it. You don't want to end up with overloaded rooms.

This applies to accessories as well as furniture.

2. Decorate a space: leave room for passage in small spaces

Avoid bulky furniture in small spaces. Keep passageways clear. The room must be easy to move around, so choosing the right furniture is essential!

So you need to think carefully and think ahead when you're furnishing and decorating your home. And if you're not sure of your choices, Maison Ditaba is here to help!

3. Decorating a space: focus on organised space

At Maison Ditaba, we love decorating, but we also love order and organisation. There's no doubt about it: they go together. It's like a winning combo.

I firmly believe that there's a solution to every problem. And personally, when I have an idea in mind, I do everything in my power to make it a reality.

For example, you have a narrow living space, too narrow to fit a dining table, and in any case you have no use for one on a daily basis: you're a young, dynamic single executive, and you don't eat much at home. However, you like to have friends and family round for brunch and dinner at the weekend... Have you thought about the extendable console? This very attractive piece of furniture will find its place in your home on a daily basis, in the hallway or in a corner of the living room, and can be used as a long table when you have people over, thanks to its built-in extensions.

There you have it.

It's just an example to show you that there's always a solution. One of my favourite slogans is ‘combining business with pleasure’, and that's also what contributes to my well-being.

See you soon!
