Outdoor flower wall: how to decorate a shop?

Decorate your shop with an outdoor flower wall? Here's our project to decorate the exotic Imperial Exo boutique!

"The aim was to offer an exotic decor."

We're here today to talk about the Imperial exo boutique project. It's an exotic boutique located in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the Hauts-de-Seine region of Ile-de-France. The owner, Hassan, came to us because he wanted to decorate his exterior. He chose the Olo formula because it involved redesigning a professional space that included physical encounters: the outside of his shop and, more specifically, a concrete wall.

In this article, Marie-Laure explains :

  1. the needs of Hassan, owner of the Imperial Exo shop,

  2. the challenges of this project

  3. how the entire creative process for this professional space unfolded

1. Outdoor flower wall : Hassan's needs

Hassan wanted to decorate his shop with flowers. He just didn't know exactly what he wanted. To begin with, he wanted to :

  • dress and cover the wall next to the shop, as decoration

  • put a fake lawn outside the shop.

2. Outdoor flower wall : the challenges of this project

We wanted to keep our shop decor simple, effective but attractive. Affordable, inexpensive decoration. Indeed, we can sometimes think that decoration is a rather expensive sector. This is perhaps due to all the TV programmes we are used to seeing. However, it is possible to decorate or fit out any type of space in an affordable way, if your budget doesn't allow you to spend a lot. In any case, we were faced with a number of challenges:

  • finding the right materials. We were decorating the outside of a shop. So it had to stand the test of time, especially in the bad weather of autumn and winter.

  • Fix the outside flower wall to a concrete wall outside the shop. A concrete wall is not easy to drill through. You need to know how to hang the outside flower wall in order to hold it in place. The flower wall has been placed outside. However, it's an outdoor flower wall that could also have been placed indoors, in Hassan's shop. There's no photo of the interior of the shop on this blog post. However, the space is large enough and laid out in such a way that an outdoor flower wall, like this one, could be placed there.

3. Outdoor flower wall : the creative process

So Hassan, the owner of the Imperial Exo shop, asked us to make him a number of proposals:

  1. The first step was to propose a 3D plan for his shop. This was done. It was a 3D video plan, showing the outside of the shop. In fact, it was an outdoor flower wall to be installed outside Hassan's shop. The 3D plan therefore included the most important elements of the shop's exterior.

  2. This enabled us to refine our proposal during our first physical meeting at his shop. Based on what Hassan retained and asked us to add, we were able to determine what we were going to do.

  3. We thought of an outdoor flower wall. The aim was to offer an exotic decoration. An affordable decoration. The shop sells exotic products: products from all over the world. So it was important for Maison Ditaba not to stray from this theme. You can find outdoor flower walls, customised or not, in several online or physical boutiques. Outdoor flower walls, or indoor flower walls for that matter, are becoming increasingly popular. If you live in a flat, for example, this allows you to bring vegetation, natural or otherwise, into your interior space, without it taking up a lot of space.

Here are the main features of the exotic decor in the Imperial Exo boutique in Boulogne-Billancourt :

  • The palm trees in front of the shop.

  • the outside flower wall. As Hassan wanted flowers and an outside plant wall, we added yellow callas flowers by hand (#décoDIY). These are tropical flowers.

  • the colours: we stuck to green, greenery and orange. The front of the shop is orange, so we wanted to reflect that.

  • we also replaced the existing lawn in front of the shop with a new one.

Maison Ditaba is a family story. Adèle and Marie-Laure are the two interior and event decorators at Maison Ditaba. They are two sisters-in-law who have always loved decorating. Marie-Laure trained in interior architecture and design, with a major in interior decoration. So, in reality, she is an interior architect. Adèle and Marie-Laure have been able to put their passion for decorating to good use in their respective homes, which they decorate regularly. They have both lived in suburban areas of Seine-et-Marne for many years now. They have also organised a number of small, medium and large weddings together, some of which were for up to 1000 people, as well as birthdays, etc. Initially, their role was to organise and decorate events (weddings, birthdays, family reunions) on a personal basis. Increasingly, they have extended their skills. In particular, this has enabled them to invest in, and now own, a range of decorative equipment: tablecloths and table runners, cloth napkins, bouquets of flowers, vases of all kinds, decorative accessories (candles, mirrors, ivy, placemats), etc. Finally, they continue to organise family events.

On top of that, they are used to advising those around them on decorating and the aesthetic and functional layout of a space. As for Marie-Séphora, she has always had an imaginative and inquisitive mind. All three realised that by combining their strengths, they could put their passion to work for you.

See you soon !
